Gentlemen Do not miss the top annual Nomads golf event - the UA Cup! When: 16 and 17 January 2010 - a two days event We would like you to sign up ASAP Information Mogens and I are delighted and privileged to have been asked to be captains for the UA competition which this year will be a bit earlier than usual. I think it is because the Vikings always tried to catch the ancient Britons off guard by rolling over the horizon at dawn. Well, this time we will be ready for each other! This year, the UA competition is sponsored by EMAAR represented by Yves Delmar, and we are most grateful for their generosity. As you know, the UA competition involves two teams battling it out over two days - it has some similarities to the Ryder Cup. The first day it is a four ball competition, on the Sunday it is singles. Whichever team wins the most points over the two days wins the UA Cup. On the Sunday, there will be a dinner in the evening. Last year this took place at the American Club, and we hope to confirm shortly that the Club can accommodate us once again. In the past it has been GB & Ireland against the Rest of the World. This year the ranks of GB & Ireland are much depleted, so we expect to co-opt the North American contingent to make it a GB & Ireland & US team against the RoW. Of course this depends on how many of you are available that weekend - we may need to tinker round the edges once we know exactly who will be taking part. Please let me or Mogens know as soon as possible if you can and would like to play. Being able to play both days is a requirement though! Please also indicate if you will be attending the dinner afterwards, whether you will be inviting any guests and if so how many. This year it will be over the weekend of 16 and 17 January, and we hope to be able to book tee-times on both red and blue courses at Dar-es-Salaam from about 9h00. We are waiting for confirmation from the club director but there are no other competitions scheduled for that weekend, and it should be well enough before the course closes in preparation for the European Tour Hassan II Golf Trophy event (18-21 March). If it turns out we cannot book, Mogens and I will arrange another venue. We will announce final teams nearer the time but for the moment if you could indicate your availability to one of us, we'd really appreciate it. YIG Adam and Mogens
